Buying stuff

For the most part, it’s just like anything else you buy on the web. You put it in the cart, and then you check out. After you buy it, you’ll see a “download” button on the order confirmation page. Click download and that’s it. Paypal processes our orders.

Scores, papers, dissertations, and any other written materials are in PDF format. Recordings are in MP3 format. Resources and electronic works may have files of different types, depending on what file type is necessary for that particular work. Works with more than one file are transferred in a ZIP file to cut down on size and allow us to send works with more than one file (full score and parts for instance) as one file.

After you buy something, you can always download it again if you need to. Here's what to do. During checkout, check the box requesting a copy of your order and supply your email address. In the confirmation email, there will be a link to check your order status. You can always go to that link to download the item again. Each time you return to the page to download the item, you will be prompted to enter your credit card information for identification. (It won’t charge you again.) After entering your credit card information, you can download the file again. Entering your credit card information ensures that the file can only be downloaded by the person who purchased it. There is no time limit on when a file must be downloaded. So if your computer crashes, and you lose all your downloads, you can download all those works again.

Selling stuff

Contributors get 65% of the selling price—we get whatever’s left after we pay credit card fees and all that stuff. We look over the files and make sure they are professional, appropriate, and new-music-related. We create a webpage for each contributor and add any works they upload to it. Pages dedicated to each work are also placed in the appropriate categories (orchestral, electronic, etc.). And we maintain these pages and manage your account until you don't want to sell with us anymore or until the world ends, whichever comes first.

We pay contributors at the end of each quarter by paper check. Payments are made on the 15th of the first month following each quarter. (Payments for sales made in January to March are mailed on April 15.) Checks are not mailed if the payment amount does not exceed $10.
