I have always had a special affinity for that region of the visual arts on the boundary between representation and abstraction, a region inhabited most comfortably by landscape. And although my music has never been pictorial in any traditional way, it has been nourished by the many hours I’ve spent looking at painted landscapes. These pieces were conceived as homages to some of the artists whose work continues to be such a rich source of pleasure and inspiration.
